Why is it needed?

Work at height remains one of the leading causes of serious injury and death in the UK.

This course outlines the main hazards associated with work at height and how they are managed in line with the Work at Height Regulations 2005. It covers common causes of falls, including unprotected edges, fragile roofs, rooflights, openings, falling objects, and the misuse of access equipment such as ladders, scaffolds, mobile towers, and MEWPs.

The course explains the legal hierarchy of control – avoid, prevent, and minimise – and sets clear expectations around planning, risk assessment, use of collective protection, and emergency rescue arrangements. It also addresses secondary risks such as asbestos, electricity, weather conditions, and hot works, emphasising the importance of competence, inspection, supervision, and stopping work when conditions are unsafe.

How often is it needed?
